Harriet’s Halloween Candy is the story of a young girl’s obsession with Halloween candy and the dread of having to share it with her younger brother. After her friends find out that she has been hoarding candy, Harriet learns that things are even better when you share them with those you love.

John Olive’s version of the ancient Greek myth, Jason and the Argonauts, keeps the hallmarks of the original tale—betrayal, struggle, vengeance and Jason’s dangerous journey seeking the famed Golden Fleece to prove his right to be King of Thessaly. With help from an inexperienced but enthusiastic crew—the untried Hercules and budding poet Orpheus—Jason passes through a series of tests, failures and successes to find out that his strength lies within.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice
World Premiere Steeped in magic realism, this world-premiere production brings to life an enchanted forest with talking plants and animals. When young Charles comes across the queen of the forest and witnesses her mystical powers, he vows to become her apprentice. However, his arrogance and disrespect all but ruin his chances, until he learns his lessons and bravely aids the sorcerer in a battle against her villain.

Goodnight Moon

Goodnight Moon
World Premiere The crowning achievement of author Margaret Wise Brown, with adored illustrations by Clement Hurd, this long poem of goodnight wishes will be brought to life on SCT’s stage with fanciful song, dance and puppetry. The play’s script, music and lyrics are by Chad Henry, who has composed for and written many plays at SCT, most recently Sleeping Beauty and Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. In the time it takes the little bunny in the green room to succumb to sleep, SCT will explore the rich world of a child’s imagination.

Afternoon of the Elves
Based on the 1990 Newbery Honor book by Janet Taylor Lisle, Afternoon of the Elves is a poignant story about imagination, friendship and responsibility. Upwardly-mobile Hillary has her social standing jeopardized when she befriends her quirky outcast neighbor Sara Kate. Hillary is drawn in by the secret of an enchanted elf village in Sara Kate’s backyard. While the two tend to the elf village, the girls’ relationship grows, revealing the complicated layers of Sara Kate’s life, including the responsibility and burden she carries taking care of her ill mother.

Everyone Knows What a Dragon Looks Like
World Premiere Through the inspired art of puppetry, we visit the ancient Chinese city of Wu as the young orphan boy, Han, longs for a different life - sweeping the gates of the city was not what he desired. When the marauding Wild Horsemen come to attack the city, the bumbling Mandarin decrees that all inhabitants should pray to the Great Cloud Dragon for help. After a hermit is ridiculed for announcing herself the dragon, Han shows generosity that touches the hermit’s heart and allows her to reveal her true Dragon form.

Addy: An American Girl Story

Addy: An American Girl Story
The World Premiere of Addy: An American Girl Story is the tale of brave Addy Walker, a young girl raised as a slave on a plantation in North Carolina. After her brother and father are sold away, Addy and her mother must flee the oppressive life of slavery and endure the hardships and fear of the journey north. With courage and determination, Addy teaches audiences what it really means to be free.
