Bring Your Class to a Play!
Through live theatre, students are encouraged to read, develop critical and creative thinking, and be curious about the world around them. Bringing your class to a Seattle Children's Theatre Mainstage performance enhances and supports classroom curriculum and the invaluable skills that arts education gives our children.
Reservations for 16-17 School Shows are now available.

School group matinees run Tuesdays – Fridays. Both morning and afternoon performances are available. Many of our school group performances sell out quickly, so it is advisable to make reservations early. Our season runs September through June, and we begin taking reservations the spring prior to the new school year.
As an additional education component, each performance at Seattle Children's Theatre is supplemented by either a hand-out with discussion questions, activities, and technical information about the show, or an in-theatre discussion offering audience members the opportunity to interact directly with the actors in a question and answer format.
Once your reservation is received and processed, we will send you an email with the performance date and time selected for your group. We will mail this information to your school if an email address is not provided. If you do NOT receive a confirmation within one week of placing your request, please contact the school show office to confirm that your reservation has been received. (This excludes reservations booked at or immediately following Sneak Peek)
Contracts/invoices are mailed to you at least two months prior to your performance date. Your payment is due four weeks before the date you are scheduled to attend. If you need to change your reservation or find you have circumstances that prevent you from paying on time, please call the school show office BEFORE the payment due date: (206) 441-9244
We accept credit cards, purchase orders, or a maximum of two checks. Sorry, we cannot decrease your reservation count after the payment deadline and no refunds for unused tickets can be made after payment is received.
Free Admittance Program
Seattle Children's Theatre is pleased to offer scholarships (free admissions) for our student matinee shows. Scholarships are allocated based on your school's overall free/reduced price lunch percentage. Unfortunately, we do not have funding to give scholarships to all who request them. Some scholarships are available to schools that have more than 20% of their students on the free/reduced lunch program.
In addition to the scholarship program, SCT provides one complimentary ticket for every 25 tickets purchased for the educators attending with their students. Groups of 10 or less are not eligible for complimentary teacher tickets.
If you need extra seats for more chaperones or students, please call the school show office at (206) 441-9244 and ask for availability. Please do not ask parents/chaperones to call as we do not sell single tickets to our student matinee performances.
For the safety and security of the students attending the matinees, no additional tickets may be purchased for any parent/chaperone without prior approval from the teacher or school staff member. For this reason, all increases to the ticket amount must come directly from the classroom teacher.
Arrival Time and Seating
Please plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your performance start time. The performance start time can be found on your invoice. One teacher should check in with a theatre staff person upon arrival. At that time, please ask your entire group to follow our instructions so that we can get you seated as quickly and efficiently as possible. Anyone arriving after the show has started will be seated at the discretion of the house manager.
Please note: every group has a pre-assigned seating assignment, so you must wait to be seated by an usher. Seats are assigned based on the age of the students attending and with any special needs taken into consideration. If your group has wheelchairs or special needs, please notify the school show office at least one week prior to your performance date.
Length of Show
The actual running time of each play will be available approximately one week prior to the teacher preview. After this time, please either reference the length by visiting the play's production page, or call the school show office for more specific information.
Our shows can run as long as two hours, including intermission, and usually do not last under one hour.
We are located on the Seattle Center grounds, on the corner of 2nd Ave N. and Thomas Street. Bus loading is available alongside our building (on 2nd Ave N. and Thomas Street). Carpools and vans may find street parking, in two-hour increments, within two-blocks of the theatre on the west side of Seattle Center. We encourage the use of public transportation as an affordable and convenient means of transporting your students to Seattle Center.
There is also a parking garage located at 1st and Thomas Street; rates for this garage can be found on the Seattle Center website.
Security and Other Policies
All students will be asked to leave their backpacks in the lobby. Although the lobby is secure and staffed throughout the performance, please encourage your students to leave ipods, cameras, and other valuables on the bus or at school.
We ask that you do not bring food or beverages inside the theatre. There is room in the lobby to store these items during the performance.
There is no photography or videography of any kind allowed inside the theatre at any time. Please feel free to take field trip photos in our lobby or outside, but all cameras and recording devices must be put away when you go inside the theatre.
The safety and security of the students attending our school matinees is very important. For this reason, specific show information (e.g. length, time, date, etc.) pertaining to a school field trip will only be given to the teacher or school staff member/representative coordinating the field trip. If you are a parent or guardian wishing to find out more information regarding your child's field trip, please contact the school directly. Additionally, students will not be released to anyone other than the teacher or chaperone accompanying the class without the teacher's knowledge or approval. Should a parent or guardian need to pick up a child directly from the theatre for any reason, please notify the school and make arrangements with the teacher or faculty member in charge who will then notify the SCT school show staff of the arrangement.
